Sacred Heart Preschool
Lancaster, PA
At Sacred Heart Preschool, our mission is to foster the cognitive, physical, and spiritual growth of the children in our care, nourishing and stimulating their innate, God-given curiosity to learn through sensory and social experiences, developing them as inquisitive learners, faith-filled Christians, and responsible members of society.
Through our preschool program, we encourage each child to develop:
A sense of belonging
The capacity to trust people and feel secure with others when away from home
A curiosity about the world, to take pleasure in learning and exploring by promoting sensory awareness through the many gifts, talents, and abilities that God has provided
A positive sense of oneself and sense of control over one's own behavior
An ability to comprehend language and events and to express one's self
The preschool program encourages children to explore the world around them by exposing them to a variety of experiences and mediums that help to develop emotional, social, cognitive, spiritual, and motor skills.
Activities in math help each child to count and recognize numbers, shapes, and sizes.
Language Arts includes dramatic play, storytelling, puppets, rhymes, fingerplays, expressing thoughts and feelings, and recognizing letters/sounds.
Various art materials are used to encourage creativity and the development of fine motor skills, including development of writing skills and color recognition.
Music is used throughout the program for enjoyment, as well as to increase listening and following directions skills.
Children explore the realm of science by studying the weather, learning how plants and animals grow, and how the world around us moves.
By developing an understanding of community helpers, his/her family, and friendships, each child begins to grow in their awareness of the world around them.

Sheryl Krahulik teaches the 3-year-old and 4-year-old preschool classes. She holds degrees in Art and English from Penn State, and a Master's in Education from Duquesne University. She taught for several years in Manheim Township School District, and has worked in Diocese of Harrisburg preschools since 2003. Mrs. Krahulik and her husband have 3 college-to-adult children who are all graduates of this preschool family... and when they moved on to elementary school, Mrs. Krahulik decided to stay in preschool indefinitely... where else could she play with playdough and fingerpaint every day?!?!
